Florya Aquarium in Istanbul on the Sea of Marmara coast
Florya Aquarium is located on the shore of the Sea of Marmara in the coastal district of Florya, within the Aqua Florya shopping center on the European side of Istanbul. The location is convenient to combine with a walk along the seafront and visits to the complex's restaurants and terraces.
The oceanarium opened in 2011 and is organized by a geographical concept: the route leads from the Black Sea through straits and seas to the Atlantic and the Pacific and ends with an Amazon rainforest zone. The visitor route is about 1.2 km long, and transitions between halls are accompanied by themed decor.
The exhibition includes 64 aquariums and tanks with a total capacity of approximately 6,800 cu m of water. More than 15,000 inhabitants of marine, freshwater, and terrestrial ecosystems are presented here, over 1,500 species. The halls are dedicated to various regions, including the Black and Mediterranean Seas, the Red Sea, the Atlantic, the Pacific, and the Amazon Basin.
Highlights for visitors include the variety of ecosystems, close encounters with the underwater world, and clear educational materials. The complex includes rest areas, cafes, and souvenir shops, and parking is available.

A journey from the Black Sea to the Amazon under one roof
The route passes through themed galleries, where each area is designed to reflect a specific region. Halls dedicated to the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara show species typical of those waters, followed by warm seas with coral fish and jellyfish, as well as ocean sections with sharks and rays. Transitions are accompanied by sound and visual effects that emphasize the change of climates and biotopes.
The rainforest zone reproduces Amazon conditions with high humidity and warm air. The route goes among tropical vegetation and bodies of water, where you can see representatives of freshwater fauna, as well as some terrestrial species characteristic of this region. Information panels explain interconnections within the ecosystem and measures for its conservation.
In addition to the main aquariums, there are 5D cinema attractions with wind, rain, and fog effects, and motion seats enhance the experience of the short films. The halls feature interactive screens and display elements that help visitors delve deeper into the topics of individual regions and species.
Aqua Florya has cafes, restaurants, and terraces overlooking the Sea of Marmara, as well as shops and rest areas; parking is available for drivers. Nearby are the Florya promenade and Ataturk's Sea Pavilion in Florya; a little farther west is the Turkish Air Force Museum in Yesilkoy. It is convenient to reach via the Marmaray suburban line to Florya Akvaryum station, and buses also run along the coastal road.
