Bostanci District

Bostanci District in Istanbul, Turkey, a coastal district on the Asian side

Bostanci is a coastal district on the Asian side of Istanbul, between Kadikoy and Maltepe, on the shore of the Sea of Marmara. For many city residents, it is primarily associated with convenient connections: from here, it is easy to use ferries and sea buses, the Marmaray line, buses, and shared minibuses. Thanks to this, the district is often chosen not only by locals, but also by travelers for whom it is important to reach different parts of Istanbul quickly.

For tourists, Bostanci is interesting as a calm urban environment outside the busiest historic quarters. Here you can see the everyday rhythm of the city's Asian side: residential streets, shops, cafés, small markets, and lively transport hubs. The district is not among Istanbul's main historical attractions, but it is well suited to those who want to get acquainted with modern urban life by the sea.

One of the most notable places in Bostanci is the promenade and coastal strip with walking and cycling routes. From here, there are views of the Sea of Marmara and the Princes' Islands, and in good weather people come here to walk, run, sit by the water, or set off on a sea trip. The pier makes the district a convenient starting point for short trips on the water and journeys to the islands.

Near Bostanci runs Bagdat Avenue, a well-known shopping street on Istanbul's Asian side with shops, cafés, and everyday city life. The district itself is built up mainly with residential and commercial buildings, among which there are also modern complexes. Bostanci is valued for its combination of a coastal location, developed infrastructure, and convenient access to other parts of the city.

Promenade, ferries, and convenient routes around the Asian side

The main reason to come to Bostanci is its coastal area. It is pleasant to walk along the sea here, watch the movement of vessels, and look toward the Princes' Islands. The waterfront space is used very actively: locals ride bicycles, go jogging, relax on benches, and spend time in parks along the shore.

The district is also convenient for everyday walks without a fixed route. Inside the neighborhoods there are many shops, bakeries, coffee shops, and ordinary city establishments that give an idea of life in modern Istanbul outside the tourist center. Bostanci is suitable for those who want to combine a walk by the sea with a visit to a more residential and less formal part of the city.

From the pier, you can travel by sea to other districts of Istanbul, and depending on the route, also toward the Princes' Islands. Nearby is Bagdat Avenue, where people often go for shops, cafés, and a long walk along one of the most famous streets on the Asian side.

It is easy to get here on the Marmaray line to Bostanci station, as well as by ferry, bus, or dolmus. If you are already in Kadikoy or in nearby coastal districts, the trip usually does not take much time.
