The Gulf of Antalya is located in southern Turkey, off the coast of Antalya Province, in the northeastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. Its shores are usually considered to include the stretch of coastline from the area of Cape Gelidonya in the west to the area of Gazipasa in the east. Here, high rocky shores, cliffs, pebble and sandy beaches alternate, while resort towns and small bays line the sea.
The coastline of the gulf is closely connected with the history of the ancient regions of Lycia and Pamphylia. In antiquity, maritime trade, crafts, and port settlements developed here, and today well-known archaeological sites are located near the gulf - Phaselis, Olympos, Perge, Aspendos, and Side. In Alanya, later structures have also been preserved, including a fortress from the Seljuk period.
The Gulf of Antalya is characterized by a Mediterranean climate: summers here are hot and dry, while winters are mild and wetter. The sea remains relatively warm for most of the year, and along many parts of the coast the depth increases quite quickly due to the narrow continental shelf. The landscape is shaped by pine forests, Mediterranean shrubs, and the Taurus Mountains, which in some places come almost right down to the water.
For tourists, the Gulf of Antalya is attractive for its combination of sea, beaches, boat trips, and proximity to historical sites. Antalya, Kemer, Belek, Side, Manavgat, and Alanya are located on its shores, and the D400 road runs along a significant part of the coastline. Thanks to this, the gulf is convenient not only for a beach holiday but also for trips to different areas along the coast.

Rocky shores, beaches, and boat trips along the Antalya coast
The Gulf of Antalya is perceived not as a single point on the map, but as a long coastal zone with shores of different character. In the Antalya and Kemer area, cliffs, small bays, and stretches with clear water are more common, while farther east, toward Belek, Side, and Alanya, the coastline in many places becomes more open and beach-oriented. In some areas along the shore, individual rocky islets and stone outcrops are visible.
Boat trips along the coastline, swimming, snorkeling, and yacht outings from marinas are popular here. In the surroundings of Antalya city, tourists often depart on sightseeing boats from Kaleici Marina in the historic center of Antalya, while in the calmer bays the clarity of the water and views of the mountain slopes are especially appreciated. When choosing a place for swimming, it is worth bearing in mind that in a number of areas the depth begins quite quickly already not far from the shore.
Along the shores of the gulf, a seaside holiday can be combined with trips to natural and historical sites. Nearby are the ruins of Phaselis and Olympos, waterfalls in the surroundings of Antalya, as well as the ancient cities of Perge and Side. In Antalya itself, the old port area and the viewpoints above the sea often serve as a convenient starting point for exploring the coastline.
The easiest way to reach different parts of the Gulf of Antalya is via Antalya Airport, and then along the coastal D400 road by bus, car, or transfer. For trips on the water, sightseeing boats, yachts, and local boat routes in the resort areas are also used.
