Kuzalan Nature Park
Kuzalan Nature Park in Giresun, Turkey
Kuzalan Nature Park is located in the mountainous part of Giresun Province, south of the city of Giresun and its center, among the forested slopes of the eastern Black Sea region. It is a protected natural area where the features of the local climate are clearly visible: high humidity, dense green vegetation, streams, and small waterways that feed cascades and waterfalls.
The most famous place in the park is the Blue Lake, or Mavi Gol. Its distinctive bluish-turquoise shade is associated with the mineral characteristics of the water and the riverbed. The lake and the surrounding streams have become one of the main reasons why lovers of natural landscapes, short walks, and photography come here.
The park is interesting not only for its individual spots, but also for the natural environment itself. Here you can find humid forests, mosses, ferns, shaded areas by the water, and viewpoints overlooking the mountain slopes. In the warm season, the greenery is especially dense, and after rain the landscape becomes even more vivid, so conditions for walks can change noticeably depending on the weather.
Kuzalan is suitable for those who want to spend a few hours in nature without a difficult route and see a characteristic Black Sea landscape. People usually come here by car from the city of Giresun; the road passes through winding mountainous terrain, so travel time depends on road conditions, the season, and the weather.

Kuzalan Nature Park - routes by the Blue Lake
Here, a humid forest, streams, and mountain waterfalls come together.
Blue Lake, cascades, and a humid forest landscape
In the park, visitors usually walk along short trails and paths, stopping by streams, small waterfalls, and viewing platforms. The main attraction is the combination of water and dense vegetation: moss, ferns, and humid forest areas typical of the Black Sea mountain zone are noticeable along the riverbeds.
Blue Lake attracts visitors primarily with the color of its water, which is especially noticeable in clear weather and with sufficient light. Nearby, you can see rocky sections of the riverbed, small cascades, and places where it is convenient to stop briefly for rest and photography. The park is not usually considered for long hikes, but it is well suited for a calm walk lasting a few hours.
Visitors should keep in mind that because of the high humidity, the trails and stones near the water can be slippery, especially after rain. It is better to choose comfortable footwear and allow extra time for leisurely stops at scenic points. There are also other natural areas in the mountainous surroundings of Giresun that are sometimes included in one trip around the region.
Most often, the park is reached by car from Giresun city center via a mountain road; public transport to such natural areas is usually less convenient, so it is worth checking the current route before the trip.
