Lighthouses in the Old Harbor
Lighthouses in Antalya’s Old Harbor, Turkey
The lighthouses in Antalya’s old harbor stand at the entrance to Kaleici Harbor, in the city’s historic center. These are two small signal towers at the ends of the breakwaters, marking the passage into the marina and helping guide vessels entering the protected bay at the foot of the old town.
The harbor itself has been in use since ancient times and has retained its importance for coastal communication over the centuries. Today, Antalya’s old harbor functions as a leisure and yacht marina, while the lighthouses remain part of its recognizable appearance. They are not major standalone lighthouses, but they fit well into the historic setting of Kaleici and are connected with the daily life of the port.
For tourists, this is above all a convenient spot for a short walk by the water. From here, you can see boats and motorboats in the marina, the rocky shoreline, and the walls and buildings of the old town on the slope. On the way to the breakwaters, you can combine a visit to the harbor with a walk through the narrow streets of Kaleici, the viewing terraces, and the coastal part of central Antalya.
The place is suitable for those who want to see the old harbor not only from above, from the viewpoints, but also at water level. From the breakwaters, you can clearly sense the layout of the historic bay, and a short walk here usually takes little time and can easily be included in a route through central Antalya.

Entrance to the Historic Harbor by the Walls of Kaleici
At the breakwaters of the old harbor, you can get closer to the water and see how the entrance to the small natural bay is arranged. From here, the movement of leisure boats, yachts, and excursion boats that moor in the marina or head out to sea is clearly visible. In calm weather, the ends of the breakwaters are convenient places to observe the waters and the line of the rocky shore.
The lighthouses themselves are low and are perceived as part of the port infrastructure rather than as a separate architectural monument. The interest here is connected primarily with the location: above the harbor rise the old city walls, terraces, and houses of Kaleici, so the place offers a rare view of the historic center from below, from the sea side.
Nearby are the old harbor promenade, the streets of Kaleici, viewpoints above the bay, and Hadrian’s Gate, which can be reached on foot through central Antalya. The breakwaters are usually reached by descending through the streets of the historic quarter or by the stairs and passages leading down to the marina from central Antalya.
It is worth keeping in mind that this is a working port area with limited space for walking. It is better to choose comfortable footwear, and during the hottest hours bring water and sun protection, since there is little shade on the breakwaters and the coast here is open most of the time.
