Sican Island

Sican Island in Antalya, Turkey - a rocky marine area

Sican Island is located off the coast of Antalya, between the Konyaalti district and the resort strip toward Beldibi and Kemer. It is a small rocky island in the Mediterranean Sea, most often seen not from land but during boat trips along the western section of the Antalya coastline.

The island is uninhabited and has no tourist infrastructure. Its shores are mostly rocky and in places steep, with a few flat rock platforms and small coves. The vegetation here is sparse and typical of the dry Mediterranean coast, so the main impression comes from the rocks, the open sea, and the view of the mainland shoreline.

For tourists, Sican is primarily interesting as a stop on boat excursions from Antalya, Beldibi, and Kemer. In clear weather, the water around the island is usually transparent, so pauses for swimming and snorkeling directly from the boat are often made here. At the same time, sea conditions depend on the wind and waves, and the possibility of going ashore is determined by the specific route and the weather.

The island is not associated with well-known historical monuments or archaeological sites. It is valued as a natural point on a sea route, from which you can see the rocky section of the Antalya coast from an unusual angle and spend time in open waters not far from popular resorts.

Sican Island

Rocky marine area for swimming and snorkeling

As you approach the island, its uneven rocky slopes, low vegetation, and lack of development are most noticeable. This is not a place for a typical beach holiday on shore: there are no equipped areas, shade canopies, stairs for convenient landing, or permanent piers. Therefore, a visit is usually limited to a stop by a boat or yacht near the island.

The main activities here are connected with the sea. Tourists swim from the boat, snorkel, and observe the underwater relief near the island’s rocky coastal sections. For such stops, water shoes, a snorkeling mask, and caution when entering the water are useful, especially if the sea is rough or the route does not include an organized landing.

During a sea trip, there are views from here of the Konyaalti coast, the mountainous stretches toward Beldibi and Kemer, and the general outline of the western part of Antalya. Nearby, excursion routes run along the shore, sometimes including views of coastal cliffs and swimming stops in other coves.

You can usually get here only by sea - on an excursion yacht, sightseeing boat, or private boat from Antalya, Beldibi, or Kemer. Before the trip, it is worth уточнить whether landing on the island itself is planned or only a swimming stop nearby.
