Statue of the Trojan Horse
Statue of the Trojan Horse in Çanakkale, Turkey on the Dardanelles waterfront
The Statue of the Trojan Horse in Çanakkale is a large urban sculpture on the pedestrian waterfront in the heart of the city, on the shore of the Dardanelles. It is the original movie prop used in the film Troy (2004), evoking the ancient myth of the wooden horse and the siege of Troy.
After filming ended, the structure was gifted to Çanakkale and installed on the waterfront in 2004. Over time it became one of the recognizable landmarks along the promenade and a reminder of the nearby archaeological site of Troy, associated with the stories of the Iliad.
The sculpture stands next to the city ferry docks and Republic Square; it is easy to find during a walk along the water. This is an open public space - access is free at any time of day.
It is important not to confuse this city sculpture with another Trojan Horse statue installed at the entrance to the Ancient Troy archaeological complex near the village of Tevfikiye. The complex is located separately from Çanakkale and is visited as a standalone site.

Movie prop from Troy on the Dardanelles waterfront
At the base of the statue visitors can see the large-scale structure built for the filming of Troy. It is not an archaeological artifact but a cinematic interpretation of the legendary horse, placed on an open site where you can walk all the way around and examine the details.
The spot is convenient for a short stop and photos with views of the strait and the Gallipoli peninsula. A wide promenade runs along the water, so the statue often forms part of a waterfront route.
Nearby are the Çanakkale Maritime Museum and Çimenlik Fortress, and a little inland are the Clock Tower and Republic Square. The archaeological site of Troy itself is located about 30 km to the southwest, near the village of Tevfikiye.
The statue is within easy walking distance from the city ferry docks and stops in central Çanakkale.
