Tunektepe Mountain Cable Car
Tunektepe Mountain Cable Car in Antalya, Turkey
The Tunektepe Mountain Cable Car is located on the western outskirts of Antalya, near the Konyaalti district and the Sarisu recreation area. The line takes visitors to the summit of Tunektepe, which rises above the coastline and serves as one of the convenient viewpoints in this part of the city. For tourists, it is an easy way to see the shoreline and cityscape without a long hike uphill.
The cable car route runs from the lower station by the sea to a summit about 618 meters high. The line is approximately 1,706 meters long, and the ride usually takes a few minutes. The gondola cabins are designed for small groups of passengers, so the ascent is suitable for both solo travelers and families.
At the upper station, visitors usually go to the viewing platforms, which overlook the Konyaalti beaches, the Mediterranean Sea, the port section of the coast, and the Beydaglari Mountains. Thanks to the elevation, the layout of western Antalya is clearly visible here, especially in clear weather. The trip is often combined with a short walk and a stop to rest.
Before visiting, it is worth checking the current opening hours in advance. The operation of the cable car may depend on the season, weather, maintenance, and temporary restrictions. In recent years, the site has periodically been closed, so it is most reliable to check its status on the official resources of the Antalya municipality or immediately before the trip.

Tunektepe Mountain Cable Car and Viewing Platforms
The ascent takes a few minutes and opens up views of the coast and the city.
Ascent to a panorama of the coast and mountains above the Konyaalti district
The main impression here is connected not only with the view from the top, but also with the ride itself. During the ascent, the Konyaalti coast, the sea line, and the slope of Tunektepe gradually come into view, and as altitude increases, the contrast between the urban development, the beach strip, and the mountain backdrop becomes noticeable. On clear days, the panorama is especially wide.
At the upper platform, visitors usually spend from half an hour to an hour. Here, you can look around from different sides, take photographs, and pause briefly in the recreation area. The format of the visit is intended more for a short stop than for a long excursion, so the cable car is convenient to include in an itinerary around western Antalya.
Near the lower station is the Sarisu recreation area, and a little farther east stretches the long beach strip of Konyaalti. For this reason, the trip is often combined with a walk by the sea or a stop in the city’s coastal districts. The lower station is usually reached by taxi, car, or public transport from the Konyaalti side.
Before the ascent, it is useful to take the weather and visibility into account: on windy days or during technical inspections, the operating schedule may change. If the site is open, it is better to arrive with extra time and clarify the visiting conditions on site, especially in high season and on weekends.
