Yalova District
Yalova District in Yalova, Turkey
Yalova District is located in northwestern Turkey, on the coast of the Sea of Marmara, and essentially covers the central part of the city of Yalova. For tourists, it is прежде всего an urban area with a waterfront, ferry connections, shopping streets, and the everyday life of a seaside city, from which it is convenient to begin exploring the province.
This area has been inhabited since ancient times. In antiquity, the settlement of Pythia existed here; later, the territory was part of the Byzantine domains, and then developed further during the Ottoman and Republican periods. The district is also connected with the history of Yalova’s thermal springs, thanks to which the surroundings have long been known as a place for отдых and treatment.
Today, the district is interesting for its combination of an urban environment and proximity to the sea. It is home to Yalova’s administrative and business center, walking areas by the water, cafes, shops, and transport hubs connecting the city with Istanbul and other points along the coast of the Sea of Marmara. It is a convenient place for those who want to see modern Yalova while also easily reaching thermal complexes, parks, and coastal recreation areas.
