Batman is an inland city in Turkey's Southeastern Anatolia Region. Set in the upper Tigris basin, it is the administrative center of Batman Province. Its setting is closely linked to the Tigris River through nearby Hasankeyf, while the surrounding landscape combines flat urban ground with views across dry plains and low hills.

Batman itself is largely a modern 20th-century city, but the wider destination opens onto the deep historical layers visible at Hasankeyf. Batman has very hot summers and cooler winters that can be rainy. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for sightseeing. Mid-summer is the main time to avoid for daytime visits because temperatures are very high.
