Edremit

Edremit is situated on the coast of the Marmara Sea region of Turkey, in a picturesque bay washed by the sea and surrounded by endless olive groves. The nearest major settlements are Ayvalik and Balikesir, and the resorts of Altinoluk and Burhaniye are also nearby. Thanks to its convenient location, the town is often considered a base for combined trips along the coast and into the mountains.

The history of Edremit is closely intertwined with ancient legends and Mediterranean culture - the area at the foot of Kaz Dagi (Mount Ida) is mentioned in myths from the Trojan era, and the waterfronts have preserved traces of Greek and Ottoman past eras. In the town you can still see old houses with traditional architecture and atmospheric streets that reflect a centuries-old cultural heritage.

The main specialty of Edremit is as a seaside beach resort. Wide sandy and pebbly beaches, well-maintained promenades and port infrastructure make the town convenient for family holidays, beach tourism and yachting. At the same time, wellness tourism is developing thanks to thermal springs and resorts in the surrounding area.

For active travelers, the region offers hiking and mountain routes in Kaz Dagi, birdwatching, bike tours through olive groves and boat trips to nearby islands. There are also gastronomic routes linked to olive cultivation and olive oil production - that is why Edremit is often called the Olive Riviera.

Main areas of interest to tourists are the center with its waterfront and markets, the resort zones of Altinoluk and Gure with healing springs, as well as coastal villages from where excursion boats depart. The nearest air hub - Koca Seyit Airport, located approximately 20-30 km from the town, provides seasonal and regular flights to the coast.

The climate here is mild Mediterranean - hot dry summers and mild rainy winters; the best time for beach holidays is from May to September, for hiking and sightseeing trips - spring and early autumn.
