Konyaalti beach district in Antalya
Konyaalti is an urban district of Antalya on the western shore of the bay — part of the city rather than a separate town. It stretches along the coast west of the central neighborhoods and the old port, forming a long shoreline known for its pebble beach. Major development took place in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, and today the area is perceived as a modern seaside zone for both leisure and residence.
Accessibility is convenient for an urban location: the main road access runs along Dumlupınar Boulevard — the D400 route toward Kemer — while Akdeniz Boulevard runs parallel to the sea. The eastern edge of the district is connected to the centre by the tram to Museum station with onward bus links. City buses run along the seafront and through the inner neighborhoods, linking Konyaalti with the bus station and the airport via central districts. Building stock is mostly mid-rise, with boulevards, business centres and a new seafront promenade.
For walks, the long seaside promenade beside the beach is useful, as are the green areas at the mouth of the Boğaçay and the Sarısu recreation area at the western tip. Rising above the coast is Tünektepe hill, which offers panoramic views of Antalya and the Beydağları mountains and is served by a cable car. The district also features landscaped squares and bike paths suitable for relaxed routes along the sea.
Fascinating places for excursions and travel

The beach, the aquarium and the Tünektepe cable car in Konyaalti
In the eastern part of the district, in the Arapsuyu quarter, you'll find Antalya Aquarium — a large city aquarium with a tunnel exhibit; nearby, the Aqualand water park operates seasonally. Close to the mouth of the Arapsu stream there is a small ancient Arapsu bridge — a compact archaeological site within the urban fabric. These points pair well with a walk along the coastline.
The district's main natural axis is the long pebble beach of Konyaalti with a continuous promenade, rest areas and cycle paths along Akdeniz Boulevard. To the west, by the Boğaçay river, pedestrian waterfronts and bridges have been developed, and beyond them lies the green Sarısu recreation area with sea access. From the lower station at Sarısu the Tünektepe cable car departs — a popular viewpoint for the coast and surrounding mountains.
There are plenty of hotels and apartments throughout the district — from seafront first-line properties to the Liman and Hurma quarters — and prices are typically mid-range for Antalya. It's easy to reach by city buses from Antalya centre, or by tram to Museum station with a short bus transfer; by car, enter via Dumlupınar Boulevard (D400). To the east, Konyaalti borders the historic Kaleiçi, which helps define the district's limits.
