Konyaalti Beach

Konyaalti Beach in Antalya, Turkey, an urban pebbly shore

Konyaalti Beach is located in the west of Antalya, in the district of the same name, and stretches along the wide curve of the bay between the urban development and the Beydaglari Mountains. It is one of the resort’s most famous city beaches and one of the main public spaces by the sea. The shore here is mostly pebbly, with some sandy-pebbly sections in places, and the water often remains clear thanks to the characteristics of the seabed and coastal strip.

Konyaalti is interesting because it combines a beach holiday with convenient urban infrastructure. A significant part of the coast is open for free access, and along the sea runs a well-maintained promenade with walking paths, a cycling route, places to relax, and sports grounds. Thanks to this, people come here not only to swim, but also to stroll, go running, watch the sunset, and spend time by the water without leaving the city limits.

For tourists, the beach is also convenient because of its location: from here, it is relatively easy to reach central Antalya, museums, parks, and districts with cafés. The eastern part of the coast is especially suitable for those who want to combine a day by the sea with walks around the city. Some sections of the beach have good facilities and seasonal services, and on certain stretches the water quality and organization of the coastal area have been awarded the Blue Flag.

When planning your visit, it is worth taking the characteristics of the shore into account. Entry into the water is pebbly in places, the depth increases quite quickly in some sections, and when the sea is rough it becomes less suitable for calm swimming. For this reason, water shoes are useful for many visitors, especially children and those who prefer a more comfortable entry into the sea.

Konyaalti Beach

Long pebbly shoreline with a promenade and mountain views

Konyaalti is suitable for those looking for a city beach with a wide choice of ways to relax. Here, you can settle on the free sections with your own towel or use the seasonal rental of sun loungers and umbrellas where equipped zones operate. Along the promenade there is shade from landscaping, sports areas, cycle paths, and spaces where it is convenient to stop for a short rest between walks.

The beach itself stretches for several kilometers, so even in the popular season you can choose a livelier or comparatively calmer section. The shore is mostly pebbly, and this affects the feeling when entering the water: many people bring special footwear. The sea often looks clean and clear, but in strong wind and waves, entering the water becomes less comfortable, especially for small children and those who are not confident swimmers.

Near the eastern part of the beach are Ataturk Park, the Antalya Archaeological Museum, and Antalya Aquarium, so a seaside holiday can be combined with visiting the city’s attractions. Along the coast there are also cafés and other everyday services that make a long stay at the beach more convenient.

The beach is usually easy to reach from central Antalya by public transport, taxi, or car, and the promenade connects many sections of the coast into a single walking route. If you plan to spend several hours here, it is better to take into account the sun in advance, the lack of sandy covering on most of the shore, and the cooler pebbles or, on the contrary, their intense heating on a hot day.
