Akyarlar Beach

Akyarlar Beach in Bodrum, Turkey

Akyarlar Beach is located in the southwest of the Bodrum Peninsula, about 20 kilometers from the center of Bodrum. It lies in the coastal area of the same name, which for a long time remained a small fishing village and is still regarded as quieter than the busier resort parts of the coast.

The shore in Akyarlar is known for its light-colored sand and gentle entry into the water. The sea near the shore often remains shallow, so the beach is often chosen by families with children and those who prefer a relaxed stay by the water. In clear weather, the Greek island of Kos and small islets near the coast can be seen from the shore.

Although Akyarlar is primarily associated with swimming and beach relaxation, some parts of the bay are also suitable for water sports, especially on days when the wind picks up. At the same time, the overall atmosphere of the place remains calm, without a pronounced club or urban bustle.

Along the coast and in the area itself, there are cafes, small hotels, apartments, and basic beach infrastructure. Akyarlar is convenient for a day trip from Bodrum if you want to spend time by the sea in a quieter part of the peninsula.

Light sand, shallow water, and views of Kos Island

The coastline in Akyarlar is well suited for a calm beach holiday: here you can swim, enter the water without a sharp change in depth, and spend time on the sandy stretch by the bay. In different parts of the coast, there are both better-equipped areas near cafes and hotels and sections with less dense development, where the setting remains quieter.

The water in the bay is usually clear, and thanks to the shape of the shore, the sea often appears calm. This is convenient for those traveling with children or simply wanting to swim not far from the shore. On windy days, some coastal areas become appealing for windsurfing and other types of active recreation on the water.

There are cafes and small establishments operating on the promenade and near the beach, where you can stop after swimming. In the surroundings of Akyarlar, there are also other beaches in the southwestern part of the Bodrum Peninsula, including coastal stretches toward Karaincir and Turgutreis.

You can get here from the center of Bodrum by car, taxi, or local bus heading to the southwestern part of the peninsula. The trip is easy to combine with visiting neighboring coastal areas.
