Amir Temur Square
Amir Temur Square in Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Amir Temur Square is located in the center of Tashkent and is among the city's most recognizable public spaces. Its history begins in the late 19th century, when Konstantinovsky Square was established here. In 1994, it received its current name in honor of Amir Temur, a 14th-century ruler and military commander whose name holds an important place in the history of the region.
The square's main landmark is the equestrian monument to Amir Temur, installed in the central part. Around it, a radial-ring layout is organized: the alleys extend outward from the center and connect the square with the surrounding streets. Thanks to this composition, the space is clearly visible and convenient for a short walk while exploring the city's central quarters.
The square is part of the architectural ensemble of this area of Tashkent. Nearby are the Uzbekistan Hotel, the Uzbekistan International Forums Palace, as well as buildings of educational and public institutions. After the reconstruction at the end of the 2000s, the area became more open, and the monument more prominent in the city panorama.
For tourists, this is above all a convenient point from which to begin a walk through central Tashkent. People come here to see one of the city's well-known monuments, take photographs, and make a brief stop between visits to nearby streets, squares, and museums.

The square is perceived as an open ceremonial space, where the main attention is focused on the bronze equestrian statue of Amir Temur. The phrase "Strength is in Justice" is placed on the pedestal. The composition is best viewed from the alleys leading to the center, so the monument can be conveniently observed from different points and in different lighting.
This place is suitable for a calm walk without a long route: here you can stroll along the alleys, sit on benches, and look at the surrounding buildings in central Tashkent. The landscaping and open layout create more space than in a traditional shaded park, so the square is more often used as an urban plaza with green elements rather than as an isolated recreation area.
Nearby are the Uzbekistan Hotel, the Uzbekistan International Forums Palace, the Amir Temur Museum, and several major streets in the central part of the city, so a visit to the square can easily be combined with sightseeing at neighboring attractions. It is usually convenient to get here by metro and surface transport from different districts of Tashkent, as the square is located in the very center of the city.
