Bagla Beach

Bagla Beach in Bodrum, Turkey - a sandy bay for swimming

Bagla Beach is located on the Bodrum Peninsula, about 14 km from the center of Bodrum, on a stretch of coastline southwest of the city. It is often called Camel Beach due to the camel rides that have long been one of the local tourist attractions. The beach is situated in a small bay, so it is usually calmer here than on more open sections of the coast.

The shore at Bagla is sandy, with a gentle entry into the water, making it a convenient place for swimming. Thanks to the shape of the bay and the surrounding terrain, the sea here often remains smoother even in windy weather. For the same reason, the beach is often chosen for a relaxing time by the water, especially by families with children and those who prefer stretches of coast without strong surf.

There are no historical landmarks on the beach itself, and its value is primarily connected with its natural conditions and convenience for recreation. Here you can spend time on the shore, swim, use the standard beach infrastructure, or go on a short boat trip. For tourists, Bagla is of interest as one of the well-known beaches in the Bodrum area, with a sheltered bay and easy access to the sea.

Sandy bay with calm water and a gentle entry into the sea

The coastline here is covered with sand, in places coarser and firmer than on some other beaches of the peninsula. The water near the shore is usually clear, and the depth increases gradually, so it is comfortable to swim and enter the sea without a sudden drop. At the height of the season, part of the shore can be busy, as the place is well known among holidaymakers in the Bodrum area.

Sun loungers, umbrellas, cafés, and basic resort services are usually available on the beach, although the range of amenities may vary depending on the season and the specific section of the shore. In addition to swimming, the usual water activities are offered here, while camel rides remain the most notable local feature. This stretch is less suitable for long walks along the sea than for relaxing within the bay.

Nearby are other beaches in the southwestern part of the Bodrum Peninsula and coastal settlements, which you can stop by on the way or combine with a seaside holiday. The beach can usually be reached by car, taxi, or local minibuses from central Bodrum, and then by walking to the shore from the parking area or stop.
