Dim Cave
Dim Cave in Alanya, Turkey
Dim Cave is located in the surroundings of Alanya, on the mountainside in the area of the Dim Cay River. It was discovered in the second half of the 20th century and later equipped for visitors. Today it is one of the most famous and largest tourist caves in Turkey, attracting visitors for its cool air, underground chambers, and unusual karst formations.
The explored section of the cave extends for about 400 meters. A safe route with walkways and lighting has been laid out for visitors, so the tour follows a prepared path. Inside, you can see chambers and passages with stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone limestone formations that were naturally formed over a very long period of time.
At the end of the tourist route there is a small underground lake. Inside, a stable temperature of around 18 degrees and high humidity are maintained throughout the year, so even in summer it is noticeably cooler here than on the coast. Because of this, a trip to the cave is often combined with relaxation in the mountains above Alanya and a visit to the Dim Cay valley.
Dim Cave is of interest to those who want to see a natural site that differs noticeably from the beach side of the resort. It is a convenient option for a short trip from the center of Alanya, especially on a hot day when you want to swap the seashore for a cooler and calmer route.

The route inside runs along equipped wooden and metal walkways that lead through several chambers and galleries. The lighting helps reveal the relief of the walls, dense flowstone formations, hanging stalactites, and stalagmites rising from below. There are changes in elevation along the route, so it is more convenient to choose non-slip shoes for the visit.
The main feature of the cave is the combination of a well-organized tourist passage and a natural environment that changes very little throughout the year. Inside, it is quiet, cool, and humid, so the difference is felt immediately after the heat on the coast. The visit usually takes little time, and it is easy to include in a half-day trip.
After the visit, many continue on to the Dim Cay River, where there are recreation areas and restaurants by the water, and along the way there are views of the mountain slopes and the surroundings of Alanya. If scenic routes are of interest, the trip can be combined with stops at viewpoints above the city.
The easiest way to reach the cave is by car or taxi from the center of Alanya; the road heads toward the Dim Cay valley and takes comparatively little time.
