Gundogan Beach
Gundogan Beach in Bodrum, Turkey with a promenade and bay
Gundogan Beach is located in the district of the same name on the northern coast of the Bodrum Peninsula, about 18 km from the center of Bodrum. It stretches along a sheltered bay, where the sea is usually calmer than on the more open parts of the coast. Behind the beach line are residential neighborhoods, small hotels, a promenade, cafes, and restaurants.
The shore in Gundogan combines sandy and pebbly sections, so when choosing a place for swimming, it is worth considering the surface near the water. Thanks to the bay and the sea breeze, the beach is well suited for a relaxing holiday, swimming, and long walks along the shore. During the high season, it can be lively here, but the area itself retains a more measured pace compared to some other resort spots on the peninsula.
The name Gundogan translates as "sunrise," and the area is indeed known for views of the morning light over the bay. Yachts and traditional Turkish gulets can often be seen near the shore, giving the coastline a look characteristic of the Aegean coast. The beach is of interest to those who want to combine swimming with a stay in a seaside district of Bodrum without needing to go far from the city's infrastructure.

Calm bay with a promenade and mixed beach surface
Gundogan Beach is suitable for those who prefer swimming in a sheltered bay without strong surf. Entry into the water may vary in different sections: there are areas with fine pebbles, sand, and rocky fragments, so water shoes may be useful. In season, sun loungers and umbrellas are available on parts of the coast, and nearby establishments offer snacks or fish and seafood dishes.
In addition to a beach holiday, it is pleasant to walk along the promenade here and watch the boats in the bay. In the morning hours, the area is especially attractive for walks by the water, and throughout the day the sea usually remains suitable for swimming and unhurried relaxation by the shore. The beach is popular with both vacationers and local residents, so in summer the calmest atmosphere is usually found earlier in the day.
Not far from Gundogan are other coastal areas of the Bodrum Peninsula, including Golturkbuku and Yalikavak, which can be visited for a walk along the marina, restaurant visits, or a change of beach scenery. The beach can be reached by car, taxi, or dolmus from the center of Bodrum.
