Kaleici Waterfront
Kaleici Waterfront by the Old Harbor, Antalya, Turkey
The Kaleici waterfront runs along the Old Harbor in the historic center of Antalya, at the foot of the old city's fortress walls. It is one of the most straightforward routes for exploring the lower part of Kaleici: from here, there are clear views of the piers, boats and yachts, stone walls, and the slopes on which the old quarter is located.
For centuries, the Old Harbor was an important part of urban life in Antalya, until the main port functions moved to the modern harbor. Around the bay, sections of fortifications and historic buildings from different eras have been preserved, so a walk along the waterfront makes it possible to see Kaleici not only among its narrow streets, but also from the sea side.
The route is suitable for a leisurely walk, viewing the harbor, and taking photographs of the coastline. The waterfront offers views of the rocky shore, boat piers, and the waters of the Gulf of Antalya. Nearby, there are cafes, small restaurants, souvenir shops, and places offering short boat trips along the coast.
The waterfront is not intended for swimming, as this is a port area. The nearest access to the sea is usually associated with Mermerli Beach near the eastern part of the harbor. It is a convenient place for those who want to combine a walk by the water with sightseeing in Antalya's old center.

A waterfront route beneath the walls of the old harbor
During a walk along the waterfront, you can observe the Old Harbor from close range: moored excursion boats, small private yachts, stone retaining walls, and the descent to the water. Unlike the streets in the upper part of Kaleici, the route here runs at a lower level, so the shape of the bay and the connection between the harbor and the city fortifications are more clearly visible.
At the piers, short boat trips around the bay are usually offered, including routes toward the coastline with views of the Lower Duden Waterfall from the sea. The waterfront is also suitable for a short stop while exploring Kaleici: here you can sit in a cafe by the harbor, take photos of the boats and the rocky shore, and then head back up into the old town.
Nearby are Hadrian's Gate, Yivli Minaret, Hidirlik Tower, and the narrow streets of Kaleici with historic houses, hotels, and small courtyards. The waterfront is usually reached on foot from central Antalya through the old town quarters; some approaches include stairs and slopes, which is worth considering during your walk.
