Manavgat Waterfall

Manavgat Waterfall in Manavgat, Turkey

Manavgat Waterfall is located in the Manavgat area, not far from Side, in Antalya Province. It is one of the most famous waterfalls on Turkey’s southern coast, although its main feature is related not to its height, but to the width of the flow. The waters of the Manavgat River pass over a low rocky ledge and form a wide, noisy line of falling water.

The site attracts tourists with its convenient location and the opportunity to see a full-flowing river in a landscaped area that is easy to visit during a stay in Side or Manavgat. Walking platforms and places for a short stop have been arranged around the waterfall, so people often come here not for a full day, but for a few hours.

The area around the waterfall is adapted for visitors: nearby there are cafés, restaurants, souvenir shops, and small stalls selling local goods. Thanks to this, a visit can easily be combined with a walk and relaxation by the water without going far from the resort area.

The waterfall also has cultural recognition: its image appeared on the Turkish 5-lira banknote issued in the second half of the 20th century. For many travelers, it is not only a natural stop on the route, but also one of the recognizable places in the Manavgat region.

Manavgat Waterfall

Wide river flow and viewing platforms by the water

At the waterfall, you can approach several viewing points and watch how the water spreads across the full width of the rocky ledge. Depending on the season and water level, the flow may look different, but the main impression usually comes from the powerful current, the sound of the river, and the closeness of the water to the pedestrian areas.

A landscaped area is provided for visitors, with paths, shaded places to relax, and venues where you can make a short stop. Tourists often combine a walk here with taking photos, visiting souvenir shops, and relaxing in cafés overlooking the river.

Nearby are the center of Manavgat, the river promenade, and the Oymapinar Dam, which is sometimes included in the same route. The waterfall can usually be reached by taxi, excursion transport, or local bus from Side and Manavgat.
