Port of Alanya
Port of Alanya in Alanya, Turkey
The Port of Alanya is located in the city center, at the foot of the fortress peninsula, and is one of the most prominent points along the city waterfront. It stands where the historic part of Alanya comes almost right up to the sea, so a walk around the harbor is usually combined with visits to old fortifications and coastal landmarks. From here, there are direct views of Alanya Castle, the Red Tower, and the Seljuk shipyard Tersane.
Historically, the harbor was closely connected with the city’s maritime life and its defensive system. Today, the port serves mainly a tourist and leisure function: excursion boats, private yachts, and fishing boats moor here. In the high season, sea trips often depart from here along the coast, to the rocky sections of the peninsula, and to sea caves accessible from the water.
For tourists, the port is interesting not only as a departure point for excursions, but also as a convenient part of a walking route through central Alanya. A well-maintained promenade runs along the water, where you can walk, look out over the harbor waters, and watch the movement of boats. There is a lighthouse on the pier, and nearby begin routes to the Red Tower, the shipyard, and other monuments of the historic center.
The area around the harbor is well suited for an independent walk. Nearby there are cafes, restaurants, shops, and points of sale for sea excursions, and the port itself is within walking distance of Alanya’s central districts. Thanks to its location, it is easy to reach on foot from the city center, and then continue your route along the waterfront or head up to the historic sites of the peninsula.

Harbor by the fortress peninsula and sea walks
At the port, you can see a combination of modern city life and a historic maritime landscape. Excursion boats, yachts, and fishing boats stand at the piers, while a lively waterfront line stretches along the shore with views of the stone slopes of the peninsula. Particularly striking is the contrast between the calm harbor waters and the massive fortress walls rising higher up the slope.
Visitors most often come here for a short walk along the promenade, to go out onto the pier, and to board sea excursions. From the water, trips usually showcase coastal cliffs, sections of the fortress walls, and nearby sea caves, but the program of the cruises depends on the season and weather conditions. If a boat trip is not in your plans, the port remains a convenient place for a walk, photos, and watching the vessels at the piers.
Nearby are the Red Tower, the Seljuk shipyard Tersane, and the entrances to routes leading to Alanya Castle, so the port area can easily be included in a packed walking route through the city center. There are also cafes and small shops nearby, where it is convenient to make a short stop before continuing your walk.
The easiest way to reach the port is on foot from the center of Alanya, and from other parts of the city by bus or taxi to the central waterfront.
