Side Beaches
Side Beaches in Side, Turkey: sandy coast and seaside relaxation
Side Beaches are a long sandy coastline at the resort of Side, on Turkey's Mediterranean coast. The main beach areas stretch on both sides of the center of Side: to the west lies a livelier shoreline, while to the east there are quieter areas for relaxation and walks by the sea. Thanks to the great length of the beaches, it is usually easier to find a free spot here than on compact urban beaches in other resort towns.
Side Beaches are characterized by sandy coverage and a gentle entry into the water, which is why this coast is often chosen for holidays with children and for calm swimming. Equipped sections usually have sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, changing cabins, cafes, and water sports points. At the same time, the level of amenities may vary noticeably depending on the specific part of the coast.
The western beach is considered more active and crowded: there are more hotels, restaurants, and services for holidaymakers along it. The eastern beach is usually quieter and less densely occupied, and its proximity to ancient Side makes this area convenient for those who want to combine time by the water with a walk through the historic part of the town. It is precisely the combination of long sandy beaches, accessible infrastructure, and proximity to ancient monuments that makes the coast of Side one of the main leisure areas of the resort.

Here, calm swimming, walks along the sea, and exploring ruins come together.
Long sandy shoreline with a varied seaside atmosphere
The coast of Side is convenient because here you can choose a section to suit different plans for the day. On the western side, those who prefer equipped beaches with active resort life, water activities, and nearby cafes usually relax. On the eastern side, the atmosphere is generally calmer, and the long coastal strip is better suited for walks along the sea, especially outside peak hours.
The shore in Side is mostly sandy, and the entry into the water in many areas is gentle, without a sharp increase in depth at the water's edge. This makes the beaches convenient for swimming and for holidays with children, although sea conditions may change in windy weather. In equipped areas, you can expect standard beach infrastructure, but on more remote stretches it is useful to bring water, a hat, and everything necessary for отдых in advance.
During a walk along the eastern part of the coast, you can combine beach time with viewing the ancient ruins of Side, including the area of the ancient city by the shore. Not far from the beach areas are the ancient theater, the Temple of Apollo, and the promenade in the center of Side, where it is convenient to end the day with a walk.
The beaches are easy to reach on foot from the center of Side, while more distant sections are usually reached by taxi, dolmus, or from hotels along the coast.
