Turgut Waterfall
Turgut Waterfall in Marmaris, Turkey
Turgut Waterfall is located near the village of Turgut, southwest of central Marmaris. It is a small cascading waterfall in a green valley, usually visited during trips through the rural part of the Bozburun Peninsula. The place is known not for its height, but for the combination of water, tree shade, and natural stone ledges.
The stream descends over smooth rocks that the water has gradually polished and forms shallow areas at the base. The water here is usually clear and cool, especially outside the hottest part of summer. Because of the wet rocks and uneven surface, it is best to approach the water carefully and wear comfortable shoes.
People come here for a short walk, to relax in the shade, and to stop along the way between the villages and bays of the Marmaris area. The waterfall is often included in one-day excursion routes and jeep tours, but it can also be visited independently. It is more of a peaceful natural spot for a brief visit than a major attraction.
Turgut Waterfall may be of interest to those who want to see a greener and more rural side of the surroundings of Marmaris. A trip here can easily be combined with visits to nearby villages, coastal viewpoints, and local restaurants in the Turunc area and on the road toward Bozburun.

A low cascade among trees and smooth rocks
At the waterfall, you can see several stone steps down which the water flows in thin streams, as well as small pools and damp areas beneath the rocks. After rainfall, the flow usually appears fuller, while during the dry season there may be less water. The main appeal here is the natural terrain, the coolness by the water, and the chance to stop briefly in the shade.
Visitors usually walk to the lower part of the cascade, photograph the waterfall, and stroll around the surrounding area. Some go into the water, but it often remains cold, and the rocks can be very slippery. For a visit, it is better to choose shoes with non-slip soles and keep in mind that the area by the water is uneven in places.
Near the village of Turgut, an old watermill and the surrounding rural roads are also well known, making it convenient to continue the trip toward the bays of the Bozburun Peninsula. In this area, there are small cafés and rest stops, so the waterfall often becomes part of a longer route around the surroundings.
You can get here by car or as part of an excursion from central Marmaris, usually via the road through Turunc and the villages in the southwestern direction. Before the trip, it is useful to consider the season and the amount of water in the cascade, as the impression of the place depends greatly on the time of year.
