Uzbek State Circus

Uzbek State Circus in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

The Uzbek State Circus is located in the center of Tashkent, on Khadra Square, not far from Chorsu Bazaar and the old quarters of the city. It is easy to recognize by its large blue dome and the circular volume of the building, which stands out among the surrounding development. For tourists, it is a prominent landmark in the historic part of the capital and one of the city's well-known performance venues.

The modern building was constructed in 1976 on the site of an earlier circus structure. Its design incorporates motifs of traditional Uzbek architecture: the facades are decorated with ornamental panjara latticework, and the interiors feature wood carving, ganch, and ceramic decorative elements. Thanks to this, the circus is interesting not only as a performance venue, but also as an example of Soviet public architecture with national elements.

The auditorium seats about 2,500 people. Circus programs for children and adults are held here, so the building remains an active cultural and entertainment venue in the city. A visit may be of interest to those who want to combine a walk through old Tashkent with an evening event or see one of the capital's recognizable public buildings.

Blue Dome and National Motifs in the Architecture

The main feature of the circus is its exterior appearance. The round building with a large dome is clearly visible from different points in this area, while the decorative elements on the facades refer to the traditions of local architecture. Inside, attention is drawn to the finishes using ganch, wood carving, and ornamental details characteristic of Uzbek decorative art.

Visitors come here primarily for the circus performances. Before visiting, it is best to check the schedule and start times in advance, as the program depends on the season and the touring schedule. If there is no performance on the day of your trip, the building can still be included in a walking route through this part of the city as a striking architectural landmark.

Nearby are Chorsu Bazaar, Hast-Imam Square, and the old mahallas, so a visit to the circus is conveniently combined with sightseeing in historic Tashkent. The easiest way to get here is by metro: the Chorsu station is located nearby, and the building can be reached on foot from there.
