Camlica Hill
Camlica Hill in Istanbul - a viewpoint on the Asian shore
Camlica Hill is located in the Asian part of Istanbul, in the Uskudar district. It is one of the city's most prominent elevations, known primarily as a convenient viewpoint with wide views of the Bosphorus and the European shore.
The hill stands at about 268 meters above sea level. A city park has been laid out on its grounds, with walking paths, trees, well-kept lawns, benches, and rest areas. People come here to spend time outdoors and look at the panorama of Istanbul without needing to go up a viewing tower or visit enclosed platforms.
From the hill, there are clear views of the Bosphorus Strait, the Sea of Marmara, the Princes' Islands, and many parts of the city. In clear weather, the view is especially expansive, so the place is often chosen for photographs. On weekends, there are noticeably more visitors here, including locals who come for a walk or visit with their families.
Camlica is of interest to tourists as an accessible place for peaceful relaxation and getting to know Istanbul's landscape. It is a good option for those who want to see the city from above, spend time in a green area, and combine a walk with a trip around the Asian side of the city.

Walking paths run across the hill, and there are shaded areas, open lawns, and equipped zones where you can stop for a short rest. The area is suitable for a leisurely walk, a short stop while exploring Uskudar, or a visit in the evening, when the city lights come on and the bridges across the Bosphorus are especially visible.
The main reason people come up here is the view over different parts of Istanbul. From here, you can see the shoreline, the expanse of sea toward the Princes' Islands, dense urban development, and large modern silhouettes on the horizon. On the hill itself, the large Camlica Mosque is also clearly visible, having become one of the visual landmarks of this part of the city.
Near the hill are other places for walks along the Asian shore, including the neighborhoods of Uskudar and waterfronts with views of Istanbul's historic center. You can get here by bus or taxi from Uskudar and neighboring districts, and part of the route usually involves an uphill climb.
When planning a visit, it is worth keeping in mind that there are more people on weekends and at sunset. For a quieter walk, it is more convenient to come on a weekday or in the morning, when there are fewer visitors on the paths and viewing platforms.
