Cirali Beach

Cirali Beach in Kumluca, Turkey

Cirali Beach is located on the Mediterranean coast in the Kumluca district, southwest of Kemer. It is a long coastal stretch of pebbles with sections of sand, extending for several kilometers between the sea and the green mountain slopes. The place is known for its calmer atmosphere compared to the major resorts along the coast and is suitable for those who choose a seaside holiday without dense urban development.

The Cirali coastline is part of a protected natural area. Sea turtles lay their eggs here, so restrictions related to preserving nesting sites apply on the beach. For visitors, this means a more careful style of отдых: in certain sections, it is not allowed to set up equipment or leave bright lighting at night.

The village of Cirali itself is built up with small pensions, guesthouses, and family-run cafes. Pines, orange, and pomegranate trees grow around the beach, and the mountains come close to the shore, making the area feel more secluded than the center of resort zones. People come here for swimming, walks along the long shoreline, and relaxation in a natural setting.

Not far from the beach are the ruins of ancient Olympos, where the remains of streets, sarcophagi, public buildings, and fragments of ancient walls have been preserved. Another well-known site nearby is Yanartas, or the Chimera, an area on the mountainside where natural gas emerges from cracks in the rock and keeps permanent flames burning. Thanks to this, Cirali is interesting not only as a beach, but also as a convenient base for short walks in the surrounding area.

Long pebble shoreline at the foot of the mountains

The shore in Cirali is wide and elongated, with mostly a pebble surface, so many people find it more comfortable to use water shoes when entering the sea. The water here is usually clear, and the depth increases relatively quickly. The beach does not look like a fully equipped urban promenade: the main part of the coast retains its natural appearance, without a dense line of large hotels and noisy beach areas.

In some sections near guesthouses, you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas, and the village has cafes, small shops, and places for a quiet dinner after the beach. Cirali is chosen not for active resort infrastructure, but for the opportunity to spend time by the sea, walk along the shore, and stay in small family-run hotels. In the shade of trees and gardens, the village stretches parallel to the beach, so the walk to the sea often takes only a few minutes.

During your stay, it is worth taking the environmental protection rules into account: especially during turtle nesting season, visitors are asked not to leave litter, not to light fires, and not to disturb fenced-off areas. Thanks to these rules, the coast retains a more natural character. Nearby, you can visit ancient Olympos and hike up to the flames of Yanartas.

People usually get here by road from the highway toward Cirali, and from Kemer and neighboring resort villages the trip takes a little over an hour, depending on traffic and the point of departure.
