Karaalioglu Park

Karaalioglu Park in Antalya, Turkey - a coastal urban park

Karaalioglu Park is located in the center of Antalya, next to the old town of Kaleici, on a high shore above the sea. It is one of Antalya's best-known urban parks: people choose it for მშვიდ walks, a short rest in the shade, and views of the coastline. The edge promenades offer wide views of the bay, the rocky shore, the city harbor, and the Taurus Mountains.

The park took shape in the mid-20th century and has long been an important part of city life. Its layout is designed for walks along the cliff edge and through the inner green avenues, making it easy to combine panoramic views with relaxation among the trees. Thanks to its location near the historic center, the park is often included in an itinerary together with a walk through Kaleici.

Palm trees, pines, citrus trees, and other plants typical of the Mediterranean coast grow throughout the park. There are paths, benches, shaded areas, playgrounds, and decorative features. The space remains open and easy for visitors to navigate: both local residents and tourists come here when they want a green urban route without long transfers.

At the southern part of the park stands Hidirlik Tower, a notable monument from Roman times, usually dated to the 2nd century AD. Nearby are also the streets of the old town, cafés, and public spaces in central Antalya. The park is easy to reach on foot from Kaleici and the central districts, and it is also accessible by public transport to nearby streets.

Viewing promenades above the sea and the shade of Mediterranean trees

The park's main feature is its long paths along the high shore. During a walk, you can stop at viewing platforms, look out at the sea from different points, and watch how the coastline changes toward the old harbor and the cliffs. This is one of the few places in central Antalya where a sea panorama is combined with a full green space.

Inside the park there is more shade and more quiet areas than on the edge promenades. Tall pines, palm trees, and ornamental shrubs grow here, and there are benches, open areas, and spots for a short rest. The park is suitable for a leisurely walk during the hottest part of the day, and also for families with children thanks to the playgrounds and convenient paths.

During your visit, you can pay attention to the monuments and sculptures placed in different parts of the grounds, and then walk to Hidirlik Tower at the southern edge of the park. The streets of Kaleici, Antalya's old harbor, and several city viewpoints are nearby, so the park is easy to combine with a walk through the historic center.

If you are in central Antalya, the park is usually easiest to reach on foot; you can also take a bus or tram to stops in the central part of the city and walk a few minutes.
