Karaalioglu Park

Karaalioglu Park - Antalya, Turkey

Karaalioglu Park is one of the largest city parks in central Antalya, adjacent to the historic Kaleici district. It is located on a rocky coast above cliffs, offering well-known views of Antalya Bay and the Taurus Mountains.

The park was established in the 1940s and opened to the public in 1943. It is a classic spot for seaside strolls, with paths running along the cliff edge and viewpoints convenient for photos.

There is plenty of Mediterranean greenery here: citrus trees, palms, and well-kept flowerbeds. For relaxation there are benches, shaded areas, playgrounds, fountains, and contemporary sculptures. Comfortable walking paths and viewing platforms overlooking the coast have been installed.

The east side of the park borders the Antalya City Hall building and the city theater. On the southern edge rises the Roman Hidirlik Tower from the 2nd century AD. It is easy to reach on foot from Kaleici, as well as by the tram that runs along Ishiklar Street, or by city buses and taxis.

Karaalioglu Park

Panoramic park on the cliffs by Kaleici

Karaalioglu is ideal for peaceful walks with sea views and the Beydaglari ridge. Along the cliff edge there are photo spots and rest areas, with tea gardens and cafes offering terraces. The paths are flat and long, making this a popular place for morning runs and walks with strollers.

The park offers plenty of shade, seasonal flowerbeds, and modern sculptures. Playgrounds are spread across different zones, and some areas feature soft surfacing. At sunset the park edge becomes especially lively as tourists and locals come to watch the changing color of the sea.

Nearby are the Roman Hidirlik Tower, the Ataturk House Museum on Ishiklar Street, and the Old Town Kaleici with Hadrian's Gate and the yacht marina - all within walking distance.

How to get there: a 10-15 minute walk from Kaleici. It is also convenient to take the nostalgic tram that runs along Ishiklar Street - the nearest stops are at the City Hall and the city theater, from where the park entrances are a 3-5 minute walk.
