Lara Beach

Lara Beach - Antalya, Turkey

Lara Beach - a wide sandy shore on the eastern side of Antalya. The beach stretches about 12 km from the Güzeloba neighborhoods to the resort area of Kundu. The surface is mostly sand, with some small pebbles at the water's edge, and the entry into the sea is gradual.

Lara is one of the city's most popular swimming areas and a modern resort that has been developing actively since the early 2000s. Some sections have Blue Flag status, which confirms the quality of the water and infrastructure and makes the beach popular with families and lovers of long walks by the sea.

Next to the beach are the walking paths of Lara Kent Park, offering views of the rocky coast. To the west, right at the cliff edge, the Lower Düden drops in a cascade about 40 m high directly into the Mediterranean Sea. The Upper Düden is located deeper in the city and is visited separately.

The international Sandland sand sculpture festival takes place along the Lara coast - usually from spring to autumn. From Antalya city center it is about 10-15 km, a 20-30 minute drive by car or city bus. From Antalya Airport the journey takes roughly 15-20 minutes. The best time for beach holidays is from May to October - windy days can bring waves.

Lara Beach: best sections and amenities for visitors

Main public areas begin east of the Lower Düden and stretch toward Kundu. The widest sections are closer to Kundu - these are better for long walks along the water and for comfortable beach space even in high season. Some sectors offer water-sport services, including stand-up paddleboards and parasailing.

On public beaches municipal services are available: showers and toilets, changing cabins, cafes and sunbed and umbrella rentals. Entrance is free; only equipment and extra services are paid. There is little natural shade, so it is best to bring hats and water.

Within walking distance are Lara Kent Park, the Lower Düden and the Sandland sand sculpture museum area with evening lighting for the exhibits.

Things to do: swimming and sunbathing, jogging along the water's edge, strolls on the promenade, water activities at rental stations, photo stops with views of the cliffed coast and waterfall. How to get there: from Antalya center it is convenient to go via Lara Street and Güzeloba Boulevard toward Kundu; city buses run here with stops at the beach entrances, and there are parking areas along the coast.
