Memorial Complex "Mass Graves"
Mass Graves Memorial Complex in Tashkent, Uzbekistan
The Memorial Complex "Mass Graves" is located in Tashkent and is connected with the memory of those who died during the Great Patriotic War. It stands on the site where a hospital operated during the war: the wounded were brought to the city, and those who could not be saved were buried here. According to available information, more than 1,200 soldiers and officers are buried on the memorial grounds.
The complex is designed as a spacious memorial area with an alley, stairways, and sections of a military cemetery. Marble slabs bearing names and dates of life are installed on the graves, while the central part includes the monument "Grieving Mother" and the Eternal Flame. On both sides of the alley, pedestals with the names of Hero Cities are placed, emphasizing the shared memory of the war.
After the war, burials of Heroes of the Soviet Union also appeared here, including natives of Uzbekistan. Nearby, visitors can see memorial walls and individual gravestones with bronze busts. For tourists, this place is interesting not only for its historical significance, but also for the opportunity to see one of Tashkent’s best-known war memorials, where the memory of wartime events is expressed in a clear and restrained form.
