Yildiz Park is located in the European part of Istanbul, on the slopes between Besiktas and Ortakoy, not far from the Bosphorus shore. It is one of the city's largest historic parks, connected with the Yildiz Palace complex. During the Ottoman period, this area was part of the sultan's gardens and was used as a closed palace zone.
The park saw particularly notable development in the 19th century, when the Yildiz ensemble became an important residence of Sultan Abdulhamid II. The connection with the palace setting can still be felt today: the park has preserved its layout with winding paths, ponds, bridges, and areas of old plantings. The name "Yildiz" means "star" in Turkish.
Today, it is a large green space in the central part of the city, where people come to walk, relax in the shade of the trees, and briefly escape the dense urban development. The hilly terrain makes the walk more varied: from different points, there are views of the surrounding neighborhoods and partial views of the Bosphorus. Historic pavilions are located within the grounds, including the Malta Pavilion and Cadir Pavilion.

Thanks to the terrain, the park is perceived as a series of separate green spaces connected by paths and stairs.
Historic pavilions located within the park are of interest to visitors. The best known are the Malta Pavilion and Cadir Pavilion, buildings from the late Ottoman period that are now used as cafés and restaurants. This is not a museum space in the usual sense, but part of the living urban environment, where the architecture has been preserved in everyday use.
People come to the park for a მშვიდակ walk, a short rest on benches, picnics on the grass, and an unhurried look at the palace surroundings. It is worth bearing in mind that due to the elevation changes, some sections may be less convenient for strollers and for people who find it difficult to climb slopes. Nearby are Yildiz Palace, Ortakoy Mosque, and the Bosphorus waterfront.
It is easy to get here from Besiktas or Ortakoy by bus, taxi, or on foot if you are already walking in this area. Entrances are located on different sides of the park, so it is convenient to choose your route depending on whether you want to continue your walk toward Yildiz Palace or go down to the Bosphorus.
