Kas Turkey Travel Guide
Kas, Turkey
Kas is a small coastal town on Turkey's Mediterranean shore, between Fethiye and Antalya. Set on hilly ground facing the sea, its center looks out over the harbor. That setting shapes a stay in practical ways: the town is compact and walkable, while the slopes create elevated viewpoints and make some streets more demanding on foot, especially during holidays or longer stays.
Kas is known for scuba diving, a compact harborfront center, and visible remains of ancient Antiphellos. Visitors come for the clear water, rocky coastal scenery, and boat trips to Kekova and the Sunken City area. Key sights include the Antiphellos Ancient Theatre, Lycian rock tombs and sarcophagi in the town area, Kas Marina, Kaputas Beach, and Patara Beach.
Kas does not have its own airport, so most visitors arrive by road. The town is reached from Fethiye by road, and many longer-distance travelers come via Dalaman Airport or Antalya Airport, followed by a road transfer. Intercity buses also serve Kas.

Main visitor areas in Kas
The main places to visit in Kas are concentrated around the harbor and the historic town area. Antiphellos Ancient Theatre is one of the best-known landmarks, combining archaeology with sea views. Lycian rock tombs and sarcophagi can also be seen within the town. Beyond the center, popular places to visit include Kaputas Beach, Patara Beach, and Kekova, reached by boat from Kas.
Kas has a compact center of narrow streets, small squares, and a harborfront lined with cafes and restaurants. The town's hilly terrain gives many parts of the center views over the harbor and sea. The setting brings together low-rise streets, waterfront activity, rocky coastline, and a walkable layout, with many attractions easy to reach on foot within the center.
Beyond sightseeing, visitors spend time dining around the harbor and in terrace restaurants, where seafood, Turkish meze, and breakfast places are common. Shopping centers on small boutiques, jewelry, textiles, crafts, and stores for divers and outdoor travelers. In the evening, the marina and harbor remain the focus, with low-key bars and live music venues rather than large clubs.
