The amphitheater in Kas is located in Kas itself, not far from the town center and the waterfront. It is the ancient theater of ancient Antiphellos, a small but notable port city of Lycia, which later continued to develop during the Roman period. Today, the monument can easily be included in a regular walk around Kas, since it is located within the urban area and does not require a separate trip.
The theater is arranged on a hillside and faces the sea. This orientation makes it especially memorable: from the stone rows, there are views of Kas Bay, the coastline, and the islands opposite the shore. The seating rows, the semicircular shape of the structure, and the orchestra space have survived to this day, so the overall composition of the ancient theater can be understood quite clearly.
The monument is usually dated to the Hellenistic period, although it continued to be used later as well. According to a common estimate, the theater could hold about 4,000 spectators. For tourists, this place is interesting both as an archaeological site, where you can see the ancient layout without museum display cases and enclosed halls, and as a convenient viewpoint within the town.
A visit usually takes little time, so the amphitheater is often seen together with old Kas, the harbor, and the coastal streets. It is suitable for a short independent walk, especially if you want to combine getting to know the city's ancient history with sea views without a complicated route.

The best-preserved part of the site is the seating area: the stone seats rise in a semicircle along the slope, and from them it is easy to imagine the layout of an ancient theater. Here you can calmly examine the shape of the orchestra, appreciate the scale of the structure, and notice how the natural relief was used in the architecture. This is not a museum space with a large exhibition, but an open archaeological site where the main thing is the structure of the monument itself and its location.
Many people come here closer to the evening, when the coastline and the town bay are especially clearly visible from the upper rows. It is worth choosing comfortable shoes for the visit: the stone surfaces can be uneven and slippery. A long visit is usually not necessary, but it is convenient to linger here for a while for the panorama and photographs.
Sometimes the site is used for small cultural events, but at ordinary times it is a quiet place for independent exploration. Nearby are the Kas waterfront, the harbor, the old town streets, and the Lycian sarcophagus, so the theater is easy to combine with a walk through the historic part of the town.
You can usually reach the amphitheater on foot from the center of Kas in a few minutes, heading to the western part of the town from the harbor and the central streets.
