Evi Park in Ankara

Evi Park in Ankara - a walk to Ankara Castle

Evi Park in Ankara is located on the slope of the hill of Ankara Castle, in the historic part of the city near the Ulus district. It is a landscaped pedestrian area through which visitors can climb to the fortress walls and viewing platforms. The park is perceived primarily as a მშვიდный transition between the urban development of old Ankara and the citadel grounds.

The routes in the park run along sections of the outer fortifications of Ankara Castle, also known as Hisar. The fortress itself was formed in different eras, and the main surviving walls date predominantly to the Byzantine period. The park is not a separate historical monument on the same scale, but it is connected with one of the oldest urban districts and helps visitors explore this part of Ankara more conveniently on foot.

The park area is planted with trees, and paths and stairs lead up the slope. During a walk, views open up over the old quarters and the more modern districts of Ankara. This route suits those who want to combine a short walk, an ascent to the fortress, and views of the city panorama.

For tourists, Evi Park is interesting as a practical and pleasant route to Ankara Castle rather than as a major attraction in its own right. Nearby there are craft workshops, souvenir shops, cafés, and small restaurants located in restored buildings of the old city. At the same time, it is important to note that Ankara Castle is considered an important monument of Ankara, but it is not included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Ascent to the fortress walls through the green terraces of the hillside

Visitors to Evi Park usually do not stay long in one place, but use it as a walking route with a gradual ascent to the citadel. Here you can walk along stairs and paths between the trees, stop at viewpoints, and look at fragments of the fortress walls from different levels of the slope. It is especially convenient to come here in clear weather, when the quarters of old Ankara and the city panorama are more visible.

The park is suitable for those who prefer exploring a historic area on foot. The ascent can be steep in places, so comfortable shoes will be useful, especially if you plan to continue the route inside the fortress. The space is more of a transit and walking area than a park in the classical sense: people come here for the route, the views, and the atmosphere of the old hill, rather than for separate recreation zones.

After the ascent, you can continue your walk through Ankara Castle and the adjacent streets, where there are small workshops, souvenir shops, and venues serving local cuisine. From here it is also convenient to walk to the Ulus district and several city museums in the historic center of Ankara.

The easiest way to get here is from the center of Ankara by taxi, bus, or on foot from the Ulus district, after which it remains to walk uphill along the streets to the entrances to the routes leading to the fortress.
