Kugulu Park
Kugulu Park in Ankara, Turkey
Kugulu Park is located in the Kavaklidere district, near Tunali Hilmi Street, in the central part of Ankara. It is a compact urban park that has long become a notable point on the map of the Cankaya district. Its Turkish name, Kugulu Park, is usually translated as “the park with swans,” which refers to the pond and waterfowl that have become the main feature of this place.
The park is known above all for its small pond, where you can see swans, ducks, and other birds. Around the pond there are walking paths, benches, lawns, and mature trees that provide shade during the warmer months. In scale, this is not a large park for long walks, but a convenient public space for a short stop in the city center.
For tourists, Kugulu is interesting as part of Ankara’s everyday urban environment. Here you can take a short break during a walk through Kavaklidere, watch the birds, and see one of the recognizable corners of the capital, often visited by local residents. Thanks to its central location, the park can easily be included in an itinerary together with shops, cafés, and other urban places nearby.

A small pond with swans in the center of city life
The main part of the park is the pond, which usually draws the attention of visitors. This is where people most often stop to watch the birds, take photos, and rest a little from the movement of the neighboring streets. The space is arranged simply and clearly: paths run around the green areas and make it possible to walk around the park in a short time.
Kugulu is suitable for a peaceful walk, a short break between errands, or a stop while exploring the central districts of Ankara. The park has places to sit, and the shade of the trees makes it more comfortable in the warm season. It is also one of those urban places where the rhythm of everyday life in the Kavaklidere district is clearly visible.
Tunali Hilmi Street, with its shops, cafés, and lively pedestrian traffic, runs very close by, so a visit to the park can easily be combined with a walk around the surrounding area. It is convenient to get here by public transport or by taxi from different parts of central Ankara, and then walk a few minutes.
