Lower Düden Waterfall, Antalya, Turkey

Lower Düden Waterfall - a coastal attraction in Antalya's Lara district, located in Düden Park. Water drops from the cliff face about 40 m and falls directly into the Mediterranean Sea, making this waterfall a rare natural feature of its kind.

The stream that feeds it, the Düden, originates in karst springs north of the city, flows through a system of underground channels and forms two waterfalls around Antalya - the Upper and the Lower. The Lower Düden is also known as Karpuzkaldıran (Karpuzkaldıran Şelalesi) after the nearby Turkish military base.

The location is about 8-10 km from Kaleiçi. Along the cliff edge there is a city park with a waterfront and viewing platforms, free entry. The waterfall is visible from both shore and sea, and it often appears in photos when approaching Antalya Airport.

Best viewpoints from the sea and walks in Düden Park

On the shore, convenient viewing platforms extend right to the edge: from here you can see the streams of water falling into the sea and crashing on the rocks. In sunny weather a rainbow often appears in the spray. After rain surfaces can be slippery - do not go beyond barriers and protect your equipment from moisture.

From the water the waterfall is seen front-on: tour boats and yachts depart from Kaleiçi harbor and approach the coastal cliffs at a safe distance, offering good photo angles. Waves and wind increase the spray, so a waterproof jacket and a protective cover for your camera are useful.

Adjacent are the cliff parks and promenades of Lara, and waterfall lovers can visit the Upper Düden in the Kepez area. At sunset the park's platforms offer wide views of the coast and city lights.

From central Antalya you can get there by taxi or city bus to the stops near Düden Park, the distance from Kaleiçi is about 8-10 km.
