Upper Düden Waterfall
Upper Düden Waterfall, Antalya, Turkey
The Upper Düden Waterfall is a natural cascade on the Düden River in the Kepez district, about 10 km from Antalya city center. The site is also called Düdenbaşı. The waterfall is within the city limits but retains the feel of a natural oasis thanks to dense greenery and the shade of plane trees.
The stream drops about 15 m into a natural travertine pool. The water is fed by karst springs from the Taurus Mountains, so the riverbed forms grottoes and niches. Behind the falls is a cave with passages and small chambers, offering a rare view of the water wall.
The area is laid out as a park with walking paths, small bridges and viewing platforms. From the upper bridges you can see the edge of the cascade; at the base there are platforms for viewing and relaxing, and cafes are open. The wet rocks are covered with moss and vines.
The Upper Düden Waterfall is open year-round; entry is paid and tickets are sold at the main entrance. It's a convenient stop during a tour of Antalya and its surroundings, and visits are often combined with a trip to the Lower Düden Waterfall on the seaside cliff.
