Mahmutlar District
Mahmutlar District in Alanya, Turkey
Mahmutlar is a coastal district east of central Alanya, stretching along the Mediterranean Sea and the D-400 highway. It was once a separate small settlement with gardens and agricultural plots, and today it is one of the largest residential districts in the resort area. Modern Mahmutlar is known for its long coastline, dense development, and everyday infrastructure that makes it convenient both for a short holiday and for a longer stay.
The main reason tourists come here is the sea and the wide choice of accommodation near the beach. The coastline extends for several kilometers, and along it run promenade areas with palm trees, sports grounds, and places to relax. The beaches in Mahmutlar are mostly public, with sand and pebbles, while in some sections there are stones and natural rock slabs by the water, so conditions for entering the sea can vary noticeably even within the same district.
Mahmutlar is convenient because almost everything is within walking distance here: supermarkets, pharmacies, bakeries, cafes, ATMs, small shops, and weekly markets. The district suits those who prefer a calmer pace compared to the central part of Alanya but do not want to give up urban comfort. In the warm season, the sea warms up well, and beach life continues from late spring to autumn.
For travelers, Mahmutlar is interesting as a base for a seaside holiday and independent trips along the coast. From here it is relatively easy to reach central Alanya, the fortress, the port, and other city attractions, and the journey to Gazipasa-Alanya Airport is usually shorter than from the western districts of the resort. The district is often chosen for walks along the shore, beach holidays, and trips to natural and historical sites east of Alanya.

Mahmutlar District: promenade, beaches, and everyday infrastructure
Here it is easy to combine a seaside holiday with ordinary city life.
Long Promenade and Beaches with Different Sea Entry Conditions
Mahmutlar is perceived first of all as a long coastal strip where residential quarters come close to the sea. Between the buildings and the beaches are streets with cafes, bakeries, grocery stores, and services for everyday needs, so the district is convenient for those who like to combine time by the water with ordinary city life. In the evenings, people often stroll along the promenade, and during the day they spend time on the beach or in seaside cafes.
The shoreline in Mahmutlar is varied: there are sections with softer sand-and-pebble coverage, and there are zones where rocky strips and natural rock slabs appear at the water's edge. Because of this, tourists should check the specific stretch of coast in advance, especially if easy sea access for children or calm swimming is important. On some beaches, showers, changing cabins, toilets, and sunbed and umbrella rentals usually operate in season, but the level of facilities may vary.
The district is suitable for long walks, cycling along coastal streets, independent travel without being tied to a hotel, and everyday shopping at local markets. From Mahmutlar it is convenient to travel to central Alanya, where the Red Tower, the harbor, and the cable car to the fortress are located, while to the east you can reach quieter stretches of coastline and natural areas toward Gazipasa.
The district is usually reached via the D-400 highway by bus, taxi, or transfer from central Alanya and from Gazipasa-Alanya Airport. If you plan to swim at different beaches in Mahmutlar, it is useful to bring water shoes, as the surface and underwater terrain here change from one section to another.
