Dolmabahce Mosque is located in the Besiktas district, on the European shore of the Bosphorus, next to Dolmabahce Palace. It stands by the water and is clearly visible during walks along the waterfront or on the way to the palace complex. For tourists, it is a convenient stop on a route through the historic part of Besiktas.
The mosque was built in the mid-19th century during the reform period of the Ottoman Empire. Construction began on the initiative of Bezmi Alem Valide Sultan, the mother of Sultan Abdulmecid I, who completed the work. The design is usually attributed to one of the representatives of the famous family of Ottoman court architects - Garabet Balyan.
The architecture of the mosque differs noticeably from earlier Ottoman places of worship. Its appearance combines the traditional composition of a mosque with decorative techniques of the European styles of that time, primarily Baroque and Empire. The facade is richly decorated with ornamental details, large windows provide good lighting for the interior, and two slender minarets create the recognizable silhouette of the building against the Bosphorus.
Inside there is a spacious prayer hall with decorative finishes from the 19th century. The building is part of the overall architectural ensemble around Dolmabahce Palace, sharing a similar style and harmonious appearance. In addition, the mosque is an active religious site, so it is open to visitors only outside prayer times. Before entering the prayer hall, shoes must be removed, and visitors are advised to remain quiet and choose modest clothing.

Nearby are Dolmabahce Palace, the Dolmabahce Clock Tower, and the Bosphorus waterfront, so a visit to the mosque can easily be combined with a walk around the area. This district also has plenty of public transport and places for a short rest between sightseeing visits.
The easiest way to get here is by bus or ferry to Besiktas, and then walk toward Dolmabahce Palace. If you are already in the Kabatas area or at Besiktas Square, the mosque is easy to reach on foot along the shore.
