View of the bay and the Old Harbor from central Antalya
The monumental composition featuring Mustafa Kemal Atatürk dominates Republic Square. Wreaths and ribbons are placed at its base during official ceremonies, especially on 29 October, 23 April and 19 May, when the square becomes the setting for city celebrations.
The monument is a convenient starting point for a walk through Kaleici: via Kalekapisi Square to the Clock Tower, Hadrian's Gate and the Yivli Minaret. At the edge of the square there is a panoramic elevator that descends directly to the Old Harbor, where you can stroll along the waterfront and see the fishing boats.
Here you can photograph panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the port from above, observe the street life of the center and take a short rest. For guests with strollers and people with limited mobility, access to the harbor via the panoramic elevator is convenient.
How to get there: take Antalya trams T1A or T1B to the Ismetpasa stop, or the nostalgic tram to Kalekapisi, then walk 3-5 minutes; there are also buses marked Republic Square. Note that strong gusts of wind can occur on the viewpoint - keep your belongings with you and be careful near the railings.
