Belcekiz Beach

Belcekiz Beach in Oludeniz, Turkey

Belcekiz Beach is located in Oludeniz, a resort village south of central Fethiye, on the shore of the bay of the same name next to the Blue Lagoon. It is the resort's main public beach and one of the most visited stretches of coastline in this part of the bay. Both holidaymakers from nearby hotels and those coming for the day from Fethiye and neighboring areas come here.

The shore here is wide and long, with a mix of pebbles and sand, and the water is usually clear. Unlike the calm waters of the Blue Lagoon, the sea at Belcekiz is more open, so water conditions depend on the wind and weather: on some days it is calm, on others there may be waves. Because of this, the beach feels more open and maritime than the sheltered lagoon nearby.

The beach is well known not only as a place for swimming, but also as one of the spots where paragliding flights over the Oludeniz coast are especially visible. Paragliders launch from Mount Babadag and land by the shore, which has become a distinctive part of the local scenery. The beach also offers the usual water activities and boat trips typical of a resort area.

Belcekiz is convenient for those who want to combine a beach holiday with the resort's infrastructure. Along the promenade and on the neighboring streets there are cafés, shops, hotels, and tourist service points, so it is easy to reach on foot from most parts of Oludeniz. For many visitors, this is one of the most accessible beaches in the Fethiye area, where you can spend a few hours by the sea without long travel times.

Belcekiz Beach has a more open shoreline than the lagoon, so the movement of the sea is felt here more often. Entry into the water is usually quite convenient, but beach shoes are useful on the pebbly sections. The clear water makes this place suitable for swimming and short swims close to shore, especially in calm weather.

Sun loungers and umbrellas can be rented along the coast, and nearby there are cafés, small shops, and beach service points. Pleasure boats and excursion boats depart from here, and it is pleasant to walk along the beach while looking out over the bay and the surrounding slopes. A particularly noticeable feature of this place is the landings of paragliders descending from Babadag to the shore of Oludeniz.

Nearby are the Blue Lagoon, the natural park by the lagoon, and the cable car to Babadag, which offers views of the bay and the surroundings of Fethiye. This makes it possible to combine a beach holiday with a walk or a trip into the mountains on the same day.

The easiest way to get here is from central Fethiye by dolmus to Oludeniz, after which the beach is usually within walking distance. In high season, it is worth taking into account heavier road traffic and a busier atmosphere by the shore.
